Our Team
Chris Spurgeon and Alison Spurgeon
Chris and Alison trained as veterinarians at the Royal Veterinary College, London, graduating in 1987. After working in England they travelled to Australia before settling in Narooma, attracted by the unspoilt, natural beauty of this area. They have been running Narooma Veterinary Hospital for 16 years: they know the community very well and have a wealth of experience about local pet problems, such as tick paralysis. Chris has special interests in radiology and pet dentistry. Alison is skilled in skin problems and cat medicine. They have a little cross-bred dog called Tiggy, and 2 cats: Hokie and Pokie.
Kerrie McCutcheon
Kerrie is our longest-serving veterinary nurse. She is an active member of the Animal Welfare League, helping to rehome dogs and cats. She owns a little dog with a big attitude called Skip. Kerrie is involved in dog training with the AWL, and is a keen Dragon-boat racer.
Ursula Golding
As our receptionist, Ursula’s friendly face will be ready to greet you whenever you come to our clinic. Ursula’s hobbies include cooking and gardening. Ursual has a beautiful long-haired cat called Buff. She also has 13 grandchildren which should keep her pretty busy in her spare time!
Sheree Everson
We are lucky to have Sheree back working with us after the birth of her second child, Xavier. Sheree is passionate about dog behaviour and has experience in training all types of dogs. She runs our very successful puppy pre-school classes and can help with specific behavioural problems in your dog by providing private consultations. Sheree has recently bred several Koolie dogs - which are an Australian working breed.
Lauren Henry
Lauren is our newest staff member, and has a passion to assist in treatment and recovery of your much loved pets. Lauren completed her veterinary nursing studies certificates 3 and 4 at Kurri TAFE and furthered her skills working in Newcastle. She is also an experienced dog groomer with great attention to detail. Lauren and her daughter Shaylee have a small menagerie consisting of a black lab named Penny, two guinea pigs called Pig and Wombat, six chickens and a breeding pair of axolotyls!
We are members of: Australian Veterinary Association, Animal Welfare League, Wilderness Society, Humane Society
Community Service
Our health care team have a strong commitment to this community and we aim to help as many animals in the area as we can.
- We assist the Animal Welfare League in rehoming unwanted animals by providing subsidised desexings, vaccinations and veterinary care.
- Sick and injured wildlife is cared for by our local WIRES branch, to which we donate out time and services.
- We are a Cat Adoption Centre: we try to find loving homes for unwanted cats and kittens.
- Remember when you buy your pet products from us you are supporting these worthwhile programs.
