Pet Boarding

Dogs

We have large runs available for boarding dogs. All dogs are walked outside at least once daily. On the weekends they can have a longer walk on the beach!

We also have doggy day-care available. Maybe you are working all day and your dog needs some company, or you are on holiday and are taking a day trip out to the island - keep your friend safe with us.

Cats

Keep your cat safe in air-conditioned comfort while you are away. Our secure, specially designed cat modules have plenty of vertical height which cats love! All cats receive a FREE health check and of course you can rest assured that veterinary care is always on hand if needed.

Flea and tick control

We have so much experience in this area – we can give you the best advice about which products you need to use on your pet. We stock a full range of quality products – all are safe, effective and easy to use. And remember, when you buy from us, you are supporting our Animal Welfare League Desexing and Cat Adoption programmes.

Products we recommend for TICK control include:

  • FRONTLINE TOP SPOT- applied every 2 weeks, for dogs and cats. We now stock Frontline original which comes in a 4-pack and is ideal for tick prevention and is more economical than Frontline plus. Waterfast for dogs that swim.
  • FRONTLINE SPRAY- applied every 3 weeks, for dogs and cats
  • ADVANTIX-applied every 2 weeks -dogs only, waterfast for dogs that swim
  • KILTIX TICK COLLARS- dogs only, replaced monthly, must be removed before swimming
  • PROBAN TABLETS - dosed at 1 tablet per 10kg every 2 days. Unfortunately this product will soon be going off the market. We have plenty of stock at present.
  • PERMOXIN SPRAY- applied weekly for dogs- an economical choice

If you are on holiday in the area, drop in with your pet and we can provide immediate tick control and information to keep your pet safe so that you can relax and enjoy your holiday.

WARNING: Paralysis ticks are active all year in the Narooma area.

New puppies

We have a complete puppy care programme. All new pups receive a thorough health check on their first visit. We always allow plenty of time to get to know your puppy and to discuss any health or behaviour problems you may have.

  Start flea and tick control
  Intestinal worming

12 weeks 2nd vaccination and health check
  1st heartworm injection

16 weeks Final puppy vaccination and health check

5-6 months Blood test for general health screen
  Desexing
  2nd heartworm injection

15 months Annual health check
  Vaccination and heartworm injections

Our puppy pre-school will really help with the early training and socialisation of your new friend.

Puppy pre-school is held at our clinic on Tuesday nights at 5.30- 6.30pm. The course runs for 4 weeks. Our nurse Sheree runs the classes - she is very skilled in all areas of dog behaviour, especially early socialisation.Sheree can help you with any problems you may be having, for example biting, chewing or difficulty in house training. Come along and have fun with your new friend- this course really is an ESSENTIAL for all new puppies.

Surgery and X-ray

If your pet has a serious accident and breaks a leg or simply needs a lump removed we are completely set up to help. Of course, we are also skilled at routine desexing.

Vaccinations and Health Checks

Vaccinations are essential to prevent deadly diseases. An annual health check at the time of vaccination may pick up problems before they become too serious, or help to prevent sickness in your pet.

Our standard vaccination for dogs covers against 5 major diseases, so is called a C5 vaccination. This protects against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and 2 of the kennel cough viruses. This vaccination is essential if you want to take your pet to a boarding kennels.

C4 vaccinations are similar but do not give as much protection against kennel cough.

For cats we use an F3 vaccination which prevents cat flu and feline enteritis.

Heartworm prevention

Yearly injections will prevent this deadly disease in your dog. There is always a risk of heartworm in the Narooma area as it is spread by mosquitoes.

Grooming and skin care

  1. Does your pet have itchy skin? Our vets are skilled in the treatment of all skin diseases.
  2. We also have a full clipping service – great to help you keep ticks off your pet.
  3. Our hydrobath  is always available for dirty dogs, or to help dogs with skin conditions.
  4. We stock a full range of quality shampoos suitable for all skin types.

Dentistry

“Healthy teeth- healthy pet” is our motto. We perform FREE dental checks each August to ensure your pet’s mouth is clean and healthy.
If your pet has bad breath or a sore mouth we can be sure to help.

Nutrition

We stock a full range of Hills Science Diet pet foods. Our staff can assist you with the correct feeding of your pet throughout its life. If your pet is overweight don’t despair -we have a weight loss club that can help!

Electronic scales

Our walk-on scales are conveniently located in our reception area. Feel free to bring your pet in anytime for a weight check. This is handy for animals trying to lose weight or for correct dosing of worm tablets, frontline etc.

Pet Insurance

We recommend that owners take out insurance in case of unexpected accidents or
illness in their pets. Quality care can be expensive, especially if you want to provide the best for your friend. We have information about various policies available in the clinic. Cover starts from as little as $30 a month.

Laboratory

What is wrong with my pet? We have modern equipment at our clinic that ensures immediate results are available for blood tests, skin samples etc, so we can start treatment as soon as possible. Pre- anaesthetic blood tests are also available to make our surgeries are as safe as possible.

Senior care

We recognise that older pets need special care. We are skilled at diagnosing the problems most likely to occur in senior pets. If your old dog is getting stiff we have a complete arthritis plan that we can adapt for individual needs.

Microchipping

Microchipping is a means of permanent identification for your pet, and is a legal requirement in NSW. Our vets are skilled at this procedure which is quick and painless when done properly.

Cremation

When eventually you have to say goodbye to your beloved pet, we can help out at this difficult time by providing a full cremation service. If you wish, you can then keep the ashes of your pet as a permanent reminder of your friendship together.
